Decks & Fences

Wood decks and fences are a beautiful addition to the exterior landscape of your home, but the long Calgary winters take a significant toll on an exposed stained/painted wood fence or deck.

We have a saying at Fitz Painting, "It's ALL in the preparation." This means, we take great pride in our extreme attention to detail in this area. We know that difference between a 'good job', and 'fantastic finished product' is in the quality of the preparation of your deck or fence to be painted. Our fence and deck team will start with a thorough power wash to clean the surface, and then apply the appropriate coating that makes the most sense to help transform your yard into a space you'll be happy to share with your family and friends.

How We Do It.

Preparation

Detailed preparation is the key to any well-executed painting project. This is how we successfully prepare your fence or deck for the right oil or hybrid stain.

  • Power wash the wood surface to remove loose, flaking paint, dirt and debris.

  • Surface sand the wood to smooth out rough and damaged spots to prepare for topcoats.

Application

  • Spray and back roll Two coats of appropriate oil or latex stain.
Note: Back-rolling is a process that works the paint into the crevices of the wood surface after it has been sprayed on the surface, with a roller for more thorough coverage.

Finishing

  • Fitz Painting Project Manager site walk around to note any areas of concern for final touchups.

  • Complete touchups as needed.

  • Fitz Painting Quality Check.
