Preparation
Our team comes 24-48 prior to painting or staining to thoroughly power wash your deck or fence surface.
After the surface has fully dried, we use our up-right, industrial sander to sand the entire surface of your deck to remove the remaining flaking or peeling.
To prepare for staining, we will tape, cover, and protect areas on or near the deck or fence surface.
Application
We will spray and back-roll two coats of appropriate stain to your deck or fence.
We use the very best stain products depending on your needs. Here are a few of our favourite deck stains in semi-transparent and solid:
WoodPride Stain- Oil/Acrylic Hybrid in Semi-Transparant & Solid
These stains have an equal mix of oil and acrylic base with oil surface durability providing outstanding protection from the Calgary elements with a much quicker drying time. Allowing us to finish two coats on your deck or fence in 1-DAY.
CWF-UV5 Penetrating Wood Finish
This stain provides the durability of an acrylic finish and the richness of a penetrating alkyd. This stain is perfect for new wood, pressure-treated wood and weathered wood!
Colour
We will do an onsite consultation to determine colour expectations and decide which type of stain is appropriate.
Option 1:
Semi-Transparent: If your deck or fence surface was not painted or stained with an opaque material, you have the option to use a semi-transparent stain that will help enhance the natural wood grain of your deck surface while creating long last protection to prevent weathering.
Option 2:
Solid stain: If the surface has been previously painted or stained with an opaque stain (not able to see the natural wood grain) we would use a solid stain. While we are asked a lot about ‘stripping’ a deck or fence surface, it is important to note that we do not offer or endorse this process. We have found attempting to remove a previously applied solid stain or exterior paint from a deck or fence surface, is very hard on the wood and can never be fully removed from cracks and crevices.
